This session is run by Rachel only so that we can become familiar with moving our bodies around.
After the warm up session we are given the task of imagining, replicating and reproducing with movements from a journey we are familiar with within a micro space.
We do this without music at first in order to learn the timing sequence of each group and consequently we practice it to the sound of music.
In this session we also have the chance to listen to ‘October Daze’ the Nitin Sawhney piece we’ll be working on for our show on 31st May (it’s about 4 min long).
To our surprise time goes always pretty fast and in fact after a quick break we work in groups of 5 with the aim of creating a small ‘performance’ incorporating traits of our characters to be presented to the audience as a flowing conversation in movement among the group members.
Clearly it is a very creative and inspiring moment as we all have to think of our personality traits, translate them into movements and potentially visualize them as possible parts for the final show.
Our task for the following week is to reflect on a superhero, our superhero…better, us as a superhero… Session ends...
