Diary Entry - Day 3, Vocational Student, London Contemporary Dance School, Bridget Lappin, Wednesday 13th April 2011

Today definitely feels like the third day; all of our bodies still have lingering pains and we all feel quite tired. But we all agree that it is a good thing; many of us have been saying that they have never felt this “worked” before in their life. We are definitely being pushed to our limits, which is an important thing for us to experience at this point in our training, as this is what will be expected of us once we graduate. It is tough sometimes, but it’s great practice, especially with movement that is as intense as this is. Today we primarily focus on refining the structure that we had created yesterday. A lot of things were changed for the purpose of clarity and we have already started cleaning the movement. This resulted in loads of repetitions and a lot of pauses and redoes. The process is an arduous one, but the piece definitely feels more together now. All that we have left to do over the next two days is to clean it and leave in a good place to come back to when we all meet again.  We have also begun working on the second piece Mafalda is choreographing where we were looking at the sensation of wind on skin, which was a nice contrast to throwing ourselves around earlier. It will be interesting to see where she goes with this new concept, but for now, it has been a tiring, but very rewarding day.
